Mission

As a freelance writer who holds a degree in both Journalism and Ecology, Joel O'Dea strives to increase scientific literacy through creating engaging multimedia content. Driven by the philosophy that high quality journalism is well researched, verified by first-hand knowledge from credible sources, and articulated in an easily digestible manner,  Joel O'Dea aims to uphold, and surpass, this standard. As he approaches topics from diverse areas of science, his goal is to produce engaging and informative content without misrepresentation or sensationalism of scientific facts.

"We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom. The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely.”

- Edward O. Wilson

vision

As synthesizers, science journalists are responsible for bridging the gap between the fruits of primary research and a public that's starving for scientific understanding. My vision is to empower critical thinking in non-scientists by supplying them with scientific facts and insights related to issues that affect us all.
